VPP charity event raises £1870 for TAKSAL

As you may know, BKR decided to team up with TAKSAL to put on our first ever charity event to help raise awareness and much needed funds for the work team TAKSAL do.

Unfortunately we made the difficult decision back at the start of July to pull the event from Luna & Lounge in Hornchurch – which was scheduled for Sunday 30th August 2020. We realised that we needed to listen to the world around us, and the safety of our BlitzKidettes and the TAKSAL army was paramount. We didn’t want to compromise on the music, or the atmosphere – because at the heart of everything we do is the music and we just knew delivering a “socially distanced” event wasn’t what we wanted our first party to be.

The Show Must Go On Though

So, instead, we decided to take the party online, and we streamed all day through our online channel and our Facebook page. We want to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who participated, whether it was donating equipment, DJ’s arriving and observing the strict social distancing measures we had in place, to everyone who shared the donation link, told a friend, tuned in, shared our social media posts, to, lastly donating. You have no idea how much that means to us, and what impact this has made on the TAKSAL charity.

We raised £1870 for the charity, which means they now get to pay for the insurance on their minibus for another year – which is an essential part of the teams equipment. It allows them to travel around Essex collecting knives and other less desirable items which are often left on the streets, in parks, and in turn keeping the members of the public safe.

We will be observing Government Guidelines, but BKR will be back as soon as it is safe for us to do so, and deliver you all the event you deserve to attend.

Special thanks to the following people

Rob Trebes & RT Litho Ltd for the Teardrop Flag & BKR Stickers , Samantha Lawrence Photography for the awesome photos!, Luke Russell & Russell Up Events for the Light Up BKR Letters, Village Butchers Althorne for the Meat, Paul for the Disco Equipment, G&D Marquees for the marquee
